NITAN Coffee's Tale

NITAN Coffee's Tale in Jomtien is a unique roastery and brunch spot that feels more like a grand, dim lounge than a typical cafe, offering an extensive selection of specialty coffees, a self-service beer wall, and a surprisingly good food menu amidst thoughtful, if sometimes 'too much', décor.

NITAN Coffee's Tale

NITAN Coffee's Tale isn't your average bright, breezy Pattaya cafe. Step inside and you're greeted with a space that feels more like a stately, somewhat gothic, hotel lounge. It's a place that takes its coffee seriously, offering an impressive spread of beans and brews that will have any serious coffee drinker lingering a while.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere at NITAN is quite distinct. It’s a high-ceilinged, wooden space with notably dim lighting – a stark contrast to many sun-drenched cafes here. Soft beige walls and red brick touches give it a weightier, more grounded feel. It reminds me a bit of a grand, perhaps slightly theatrical, hotel lounge rather than a typical coffee shop.

There's a sense of elegance, though some might find the faux-gothic cathedral vibe a bit 'much'. You can perch at the cold brew bar, settle into a standard comfy seat, grab a private group room, or head outdoors. The outdoor garden, with its waterfall and misty areas, offers a completely different, almost fairy-tale setting.

Coffee & Drinks

If you're a coffee enthusiast, this is where NITAN truly shines. They are a roastery, and it shows. The selection of beans for both espresso and filter coffee is quite extensive, even a little overwhelming at first. They thoughtfully provide descriptions and even samples to sniff before you decide, which is a nice touch.

The barista's skill is apparent; the sound of steaming milk is unusually fine and precise, indicating a high level of care. Expect well-crafted espresso drinks and consistently good pour-overs. Beyond coffee, they also offer a selection of teas, and a rather interesting self-service beer wall where you can pour and pay for whatever quantity you fancy.

Food & Cakes

While coffee is their forte, the food and cake offerings here are certainly not an afterthought. There's a decent brunch menu available, and what I've tried has always been flavourful and well-presented. Portions are satisfying, and the ingredients taste fresh.

Then there are the desserts – these are a highlight. The display case is always packed with beautifully crafted cakes and pastries, nearly too pretty to eat. They’re not just for show either; they taste as good as they look. Great for sharing, or if you're like me, enjoying one all to yourself with a coffee.

Practicalities

Located conveniently across from Jomtien Beach, NITAN Coffee's Tale offers ample parking right in front, with free and paid options for both lots and street. They open fairly early and stay open until the evening, making it a viable spot for any time of day, whether you're looking for breakfast, brunch, or a late afternoon coffee.

Verdict

NITAN Coffee's Tale delivers a comprehensive coffee experience in a rather grand setting. Come here for truly excellent coffee, a diverse food and dessert menu, and a uniquely atmospheric environment. It’s ideal for lingering over a brew, catching up with friends, or getting some work done away from the usual Pattaya hustle.
